I recently purchased our second Perfect Pod Maker. My wife and I love having this appliance because it allows us to make coffee pods for our Senseo single-cup brewer using our favorite coffees, mostly home-ground whole beans from Starbucks. It also allows us to customize the strength of the brew based on the amout of coffee we place in the pod. The pods we make brew much better coffee than that which we got from Senseo's pods. And our pods are less exoensive that those we had been buying from Cafejo.
We had to buy a second Perfect Pod Maker because the first would no longer heat up sufficiently to seal the pods. The first pod maker lasted about 2 years. This is an issue I have read about in other reviews, and it is the only reason I gave the pod maker 4 stars rather than 5.
So when you buy your Perfect Pod Maker, I recommend you set your expectations of the life of the product accordingly, and you'll be thrilled with your purchase!

I like to use a single serve coffee maker, the Senseo made by Philips, but do not like the ready made coffee pods. I buy my favorite coffee, buy the pods and make them with the Perfect Pod Maker. Nothing could be more perfect for me. I also make tea pods with my favorite tea. Amazon is an easy place to shop - it seems I can find everything I want on this site.

I have both a Keurig and a Senseo (I prefer the Keurig), so I bought this to make my own pods. The first 40 pods worked great. Then I started to have problems with the filters not getting sealed all the way around, so I had to turn the pod in the pod maker, to seal the other side. Then I would pods whose seals would just open up again in my coffee maker. Tonight I tried it again, and I have had it plugged in for over 20 minutes and it refuses to get hot. Now, I have only had this thing for less than two months; maybe made 75 pods. I'll have to see if I can get a refund or something.

There is nothing more that I would like to do than give this product 5 stars, but after ordering 2, one for my son and one myself, I just can't do it. My son's unit lost the heating element after 4 months. Both of my units expired in less than 4 months. I decided to keep them and use my iron to seal the pods I have left. This had worked great except for the cost of the PODS. This is another sore point with this product. If you order replacement pods they cost you over $20.00 (including shipping)for 120 pods, that's just too much in this economy. I have come up with a solution though. I had purchased Finum tea filters when I bought my Senseo brewer. I did this on a hunch that they may work. I use between 4 and 6 teaspoons of coffee and cut the top 3 or 4 inches off the Finum filter and then roll it down towards the center of the base. I also use the 2 cup holder,from Senseo, bingo !!! I had my son try it and he loves it. I purchased my Finum tea filters100 Finum Tea Filter, Large, Brown at Target until they ran out, now, I purchase them on-line at Amazon.com, they come in packs of 100 with Easy-fill flap & expanding base. Give it a shot you'll cut your pod cost in half.

Pros:
1. The coffee I made this way is some of the best I've ever had out of my pod brewer.
2. The process is so easy my 2.5 year old can do it.
Cons:
1. The heating element broke after 24 hours (2 uses).
This was not the disaster one might expect because after reading from another reviewer that this was likely to happen, I was prepared for it and had the fix at hand. (Use a small travel iron instead of the heating element.) So, I'm likely to keep this around to make the pods, but wish that this product were higher quality as $40 is a bit steep for what ends up being just a holder for the pods while you fill and seal them.
******Update*******
Contacted the manufacturer. They said that since mine broke so quickly, they would replace it with a new one (even though this is normally an "All sales are final" item. So I sent the broken one back. We'll see if the new one comes/works.
