I purchased this coffee maker to replace the same make and model that has become less efficient after 3 or 4 years of daily use.
The new machine has a STRONG plastic or burnt electronics smell that permeates the water and coffee making it undrinkable. We cleaned it repeatedly with no improvement at all. I returned the machine for replacement. The replacement is just as bad and has been returned for a refund.
Amazon should pull this item from the site and send the remaining stock back to the manufacturer. I suspect the entire lot is BAD.
The Senseo working properly makes the best coffee I've ever had, but I am now afraid to purchase another. I switched to another more expensive brand, it's not as good as an original Senseo, but at least I don't feel that I might be drinking toxic coffee.

I've had my Senseo for about a year. It was replaced on a recall as well. I have used several different coffee pods in addition to the Senseo brand. I must say this coffee pod maker is definitely no competition or replacement for a cup of hot brewed coffee. The flavor is weak at best even with two pods. The taste reminds me of instant coffee. The coffee is lukewarm when its done. I warm my empty mug in the microwave to try to maintain the coffee temperature once its poured into the mug. I understand Keurig has an updated pod brewer that makes hotter coffee. So lukewarm coffee must be an issue with all pod coffee makers. I brew coffee daily and use my Senseo only when I want a quick cup of coffee without all the fuss.

Using the Douwe Egberts dark roast pods, I get the perfect cup of coffee every morning with no leftover coffee to go stale in a dirty pot or nasty coffee grounds to clean up. Since I live alone, this is particularly perfect for me.

I've used a Senseo for about 4 years and have owned this product for about 1 month. The advantages of this coffee maker is the convenience of having a hot cup of coffee in about 30 seconds with little preparation. You just pop a coffee pod in, press a button and viola! Toss the used pod away, and your machine is ready for the next cup. Simple.
I do, however, have some reservations with this machine.
Noise: It's too loud for my liking, but only for the few seconds of brewing. It's pretty quiet, otherwise.
Clean up: This particular model seems to leak often but not in a huge quantity. I'm comparing this to the older model I had several years ago, which never leaked at all. Having a cream colored counter, it goes without saying that cleaning coffee stains off of it nearly every day negates the convenience of a throw-away, single serve coffee pod.
Coffee pods: Senseo coffee is sub par, compared to the coffee offered from their competitors. This company made a big mistake in not partnering with name brand coffee makers. To me, availability of pods is also an issue. In my area, I cannot find any varieties other than medium and dark roast. To boot, their coffee pods are pricey. Right now I'm paying 6 bucks for a pack of 18 pods. This certainly beats the price of ready brewed coffee, but is more expensive than buying your own beans and grinding them yourself. That being said, I bought a set of Ecopads and would definitely recommend them as a cheaper alternative to pods. I used to have a Presto Mypod refillable coffee filter which also worked well in these types of machines.
Water well: The reservoir that comes with this machine is too small, and has to be refilled too often. I would recommend the extra large water tank available through Amazon.
All in all, this product is sufficient and I will continue to use it as it was free, and serves my purposes just fine. I wouldn't, however, recommend paying 50 dollars for this particular machine.
